At the Catherine Hinds Institute of Esthetics, the Student Public Clinic
is an integral part of student training.
The Student Clinic provides a realistic hands-on opportunity for students
to interface with clients in an environment that simulates the professional
skin care clinic and day spa. It is this innovative approach to learning
that has earned our graduates the respect of professionals throughout
the field of esthetics|aesthetics.
Licensed instructors, expertly trained in the field of esthetics|aesthetics, supervise
all student treatments in the school's Student Clinic. Each member of the Catherine Hinds Institute instructional
staff has professional clinic experience in addition to teaching credentials. Catherine Hinds Institute of Esthetics is a Massachusetts approved school that offers educational programs in esthetics|aesthetics. Training programs include theory and lecture, as well as student practical experience on “live” public clinic clients. All treatments performed on the public are done by students, supervised by licensed estheticians|aestheticians. Facials
Basic Facial: Our basic facial will leave your skin feeling clean and refreshed. Perfect for first timers, your student will completely cleanse your face, analyze your skin for proper professional and homecare recommendations, provide a relaxing face/neck and shoulder massage, gently heat the skin by either steam or our ASCS Heat Mask, perform extractions if necessary, and finish with an appropriate mask for your skin type. Approx: 1 ½ hrs
Enzyme: A retexturizing mask that exfoliates the top surface layers of dead skin. Benefits include: an instant visible result, smoother skin, minimizes fine lines, is beneficial for all skin types.
Glycolic: Glycolic acid exfoliates and helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines, smoothes out rough texture, reduces hyper pigmentation, and helps to open up and dry out active acne. Using an AHA cream 2 weeks prior to treatment enhances treatment.
Ampoules: Botanical medicines and concentrated vitamin proteins that treat skin conditions. They fight free radicals to slow down the aging process and help to correct the visible signs of sun damage, aging, stress, and fatigue. They boost the skin’s ability to hold moisture for a more supple, hydrated and toned appearance. “Vitamins for the skin”
Collagen Blanket Facial: A treatment including basic facial, enzyme, ampoule and collagen blanket which helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles by plumping up the skin. This is an exceptional hydrating treatment for mature, aging and dehydrated skin types. Approx: 1 ¾ hrs
Paraffin Facial: A specialty mask using paraffin wax to hydrate the skin. Approx: 1 hr
Disincrustation Facial: Best for an acne, clogged skin (not active acne) helps to bring all clogging to the surface of skin for easy extraction. Approx: 1 ½ hrs
Ultrasonic Facial: Non-invasive three step system that breaks up skin impurities and gently exfoliates allowing for deeper product penetration. Tones and tightens, suitable for all skin types. Approx: 1hr
Back Facial: Treat your back to a cleansing, soothing massage, exfoliation, steam and mask. We will even extract any blackheads we come across to make your back perfect for summer or any time of the year. Great for those who suffer from back acne! Approx: 1 hr
Add-on Treatments
Vitamin C: Antioxidant treatment that evens out skin tone, helps to diminish fine lines, and reduces redness and irritation leaving skin glowing. Great for all skin types, especially sun damaged and mature skins.
Compu-lift: Helps to tighten and lift facial muscles, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, stimulate circulation, firm the skin, boost cell renewal, and stimulate collagen production. Most beneficial done in a series of 6 weekly treatments, it is an effective treatment to fight against and correct aging of the skin and muscles. Approx: 1 hr
High Frequency: Used in a facial treatment for its germicidal effects after extractions to stimulate circulation, oxygenate the skin, and increase cell metabolism. Great for oily/acneic skin types.
Mitts: Your hands will be massaged with a hydrating cream and then your whole hand will be wrapped and put into a heated mitt and allowed to rest so the cream can penetrate and soften dry, rough hands. A great add-on to any facial!
Boots: Deeply relaxing, your feet will be massaged with a hydrating cream and then wrapped and placed in a heated boot so the cream can soothe and penetrate dry, rough feet. You won’t believe how soft your feet can feel. A great add-on to any facial!
Paraffin Hand Treatment: Soothe tired, achy and rough hands with this relaxing treatment. A hydrating cream will be massaged into your hands, after which paraffin covered strips will be layered on top. When the paraffin is cooled and removed the end result is softer and smoother looking skin.
Paraffin Foot Treatment: Similar to our Paraffin Hand Treatment, your feet are left feeling softer and smoother with just one treatment. If you are on your feet all day or just need to relax and de-stress, this treatment is for you.
Hand Treatment w/Enzyme: Treat your hands right with this professional exfoliation for your hands. Applied to the top of your hands, it will make dry rough skin disappear within a matter of minutes. What is left is softer, smoothing looking skin.
Collagen Eye Treatment: A great add-on to any facial, our collagen eye treatment uses a specially designed fiber mask used around the eye and when activated, helps plump and hydrate the delicate eye area, making fine lines temporarily appear less pronounced.
Body Treatments
Soothing Session: Full body effleurage that increases circulation and encourages relaxation, a great stress buster. Approx: 1 hr
Hot Stone Back Treatment: For those looking to de-stress and relax, our hot stone back treatment is for you. We’ll start by cleansing and exfoliating your back, perform a back massage, and then strategically place warmed stones on your back for deep relaxation. Approx: 1 hr
Shiatsu: An acupressure technique that has the ability to relieve stress in the muscles and alleviate fatigue. The client remains clothed. Approx: 1 hr
Lumicell Cellulite Treatment: A mechanical stimulation of the body via vacuum massage and light therapy to smooth the appearance of cellulite. Performed on the legs and buttocks only. Best results when done on a weekly basis with multiple treatments. Approx: 30-45 min.
Lymphatic Drainage: A treatment that helps the body’s immune system to function properly by encouraging the natural detoxification process. It also helps to reduce fluid retention. Approx: 1 hr
Reflexology: A treatment including a soothing soak and reflexology, which is the application of pressure, stretch and movement to points of the feet that affects the corresponding parts of the body. Approx: 1 hr
Spa Foot Treatment: A treatment including a soothing soak, exfoliation, reflexology and finishes with paraffin boots. Great for tired feet. Approx: 1 ½ hrs
Salt Glo: A full body exfoliation treatment performed in the steam room with sea salts and essential oils that helps to soften and smooth rough dry skin. The client then rinses in the shower. Approx: 30 min
Vichy Shower with Salt Glo: An extremely relaxing treatment that includes a full body exfoliation as warm water is poured over the client from a “rain bar” while lying on a cushioned wet bed. Approx: 30 min
Vichy Shower w/ Seaweed Body Mask or Herbal Wrap: A Vichy shower has five to seven shower heads (we have 6), which pour water onto you while you're lying on a cushioned wet table. The cascade of water feels incredible! This treatment finishes with a hydrating seaweed body mask or an herbal wrap designed to improve the skin’s hydration leaving it feeling soft and supple. During a Vichy shower you are usually draped with towels -- one between your legs and for women, one across your breasts. Women can wear disposable underwear or swimsuit. Men must wear a swimsuit. Approx: 1 hr
Body Facial: A treatment including a full body polish (exfoliation), a wrap with hydrating oil, a finishing mask (removed with warm towels) and the application of body lotion. This treatment relaxes, smoothes and hydrates the skin. Approx: 1 hr
Sunless Airbrush Tanning: Pamper yourself to a golden complexion and to silky smooth skin. This tanning formulation is made from natural tanning ingredients. The ingredients stimulate the golden pigmentation of the skin just like sun rays without the harmful effects. The moisturizing ingredients added to the formulation preserve the golden complexion longer. The “natural tan” can last between 7-12 days. Approx: 30 – 45 min
Seaweed Body Mask: An overall detoxifying treatment that stimulates the metabolism, increases circulation and eliminates toxins. Includes steam room and shower. Approx: 1 hr
Herbal Body Wrap: A relaxing body treatment designed to help the body eliminate toxins and relieve fluid retention. Includes steam room and shower. Approx: 1 hr
Slimming and Firming: A treatment that has been proven to eliminate excess fluids from the body and will help stimulate the immune system. The treatment includes a manual lymphatic drainage massage, steam room and wrap of choice. Approx: 1 hr
Body Polish: A full body buff/exfoliation that helps to smooth and soften the skin, followed by an application of body lotion. Approx: 30 min

The Works:
½ Day Package
This treatment begins with a Salt Glo exfoliation in the steam room. Followed by an herbal wrap, mini facial, Vichy shower rinse and a soothing session for relaxation. (2 hrs 30 min)
The Ultimate:
All Day Package
Morning in the Spa Clinic: This treatment begins with a Salt Glo exfoliation in the steam room. Followed by an herbal wrap, Vichy shower rinse and a soothing session for relaxation. Approx: 2 hrs 30 min
Afternoon in the Student Clinic: A facial with an enzyme and ampoule, during which the client also receives a mitts and boots application. Followed by a make-up application with a makeover chart. Approx: 2 hrs
Advanced Treatments
Deep Cleansing Facial: A deep cleansing treatment for clients whose skin is deeply clogged or acneic. No massage is included with this facial. Approx: 1 ½ hr
Microdermabrasion: The microdermabrasion technique abrades the skin with a high pressure flow of aluminum oxide crystals. Microdermabrasion is used for the treatment of fine lines, dyschromias (discoloration), acne, acne scarring, pore refinement and superficial scarring. Rejuvenates the skin when performed over multiple treatments. Approx: 30 – 45 min
LED (Photo-Actif): Light emitting diodes (red lights) that stimulate collagen production, increase circulation (oxygen and blood flow), promote healing, and rejuvenate aging and sun damaged skin. Best when done with multiple treatments. Approx: 30 min
Micro and LED: When done together, this treatment stimulates collagen, exfoliates and hydrates the skin. Approx: 1 hr
Lumifacial Lights: Treats acne, redness, photo-aging and pigmentation. Best when done with multiple treatments. Approx: 45 min
Lumilift Light Treatments: Stimulates collagen production and tightens and tones the muscles of the face. Best when done with multiple treatments. (This is a Compu-lift and LED combo). Approx: 30 min
Chemical Peels: Treat many different skin conditions. A consult is needed to prepare the skin with PCA Skin products prior to treatment. NO PEELS FOR 1st TIME CLIENTS
